2015 OCO Health Training and Assessment Program

Goal of the training

The goal of  Community health training is to increase health care awareness training and assessment for Oromo Community of Washington, DC Metropolitan area

Objectives:
The Objectives of Expand the health training program and strengthen services by:

  • Increasing awareness about DC Child Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
  • Providing health awareness training about high risk diseases (cancer, heart disease, tuberculosis): eight training sessions.
  • Provide health awareness training about Ebola, its transmission and prevention methods.
  • Provide regular health checkup services for community members at the Oromo House.
  •  Produce and broadcast health-related information, interviews, and program updates in Afaan Oromo language on local media platforms.

Target Population
Oromo community – senior citizens, adult youth, and women residing in Washington, DC and metropolitan area

  • Tuberculosis and other upper Respiratory
  • ICT in Healthcare
  • Sadness, stress, depression and anxiety

  • Provide regular health check-up (weight, height, and blood pressure)
  • Produce and broadcast health related information interviews and program updates on local radios and other medias broadcast in Afaan Oromo (language)
