Dear Oromo Compatriots

Oromo Community House Project Fundraising Party (for Radio and Email Announcement). As you know, the Oromo Community held a one-day workshop on its housing project on September 15, 2007. In this workshop, participants reaffirmed the critical importance of the Oromo Community Center to educate our children about Oromo culture; to offer various social services; and as a place to host various social, cultural, and political events and activities. Our community members also recommitted themselves to contribute more financially.

About 40 of our community members pledged to contribute between $100.00-200.00 per month, raising a total of about $3,500 per month towards the project beginning in October 2007. On behalf of the Oliqaa Foundation, Obbo Mike Abebe also pledged to contribute to the project in various ways, including through organizing multi-state fundraising parties within the USA.

In cooperation with the Oliqaa Foundation, the new Housing Committee and the OCO Board are now organizing a fund-raising party for the House Project on November 17, 2007. Our two popular star artists--Obbo Kemer Yusuf and Obbo Abdi Nuressa—are ready to entertain us all. The fund-raising party will take place at 805 Wayne Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910 between 8:00pm-2am. To buy your tickets, please call 240-603-6346 or 240-876-3268. The Board and the Housing Committee cordially invite all adults, youth, and children to come and enjoy this night of wonderful entertainment, and at the same time support the Oromo House Project.
